Book vs Movie

Hunger Games- Most important differences between book and adaptation on screen according to the web

1.But wait…wasn’t the pin supposed to be given from Madge?

So…Katniss didn’t get the pin from the old lady in the book. It was given by her by the her friend Madge, the daughter of the Mayor.

2. Why does Katniss even become allie with Rue?

In the book she feels a connection between Rue and her sister, saving Rue she feels like she is saving her sister too. In the movie we don’t really know…we just assume that she does it because Rue is very young and needs protection.

3. The vicious and over-sized dog mutants.

Towards the end of the games we see Katniss and Peeta running away from dog utants looking like nothing more than vicious over-sized dogs. In the book instead they have the eyes of the tributes that died during the games since then…probably the movie was changed to keep it under the PG-13 rating.

4. Avox?

In the book there are lots of men and women that had their tongue cut out as punishment from the Capitol for some of their actions. In the books they are waiters that work for the tributes, they are called Avox. In the movie we see them but we don’t know who they ae and why they are wearing that weird mask on the face.

5. She’s Katniss’ mentor but…who is she?

Effie Trinket’s name is never metioned in the movie.

6. Katniss wants to kill Peeta???

In the book after it was declared that there could not be two tributes winning the games Katniss immediately draws an arrow across her bow. In the movie that just doesn’t happen.

7. Peeta is heartbroken

In the book he was truly convinced that Katniss really loved him and is heart broken when he realizes that she was just “faking it” all the time. In the movie he accepts it silently and is a little bit sad but doesn’t seem very concerned.
